On Tuesday May 25th, 2021 Lonnie Ham passed away peacefully at his residence. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 69 years Corinne Ham of Leesburg, his three children Harold Ham, Carolyn Ham, and Patsy Ham all of Leesburg. His five grandchildren Brain Schunck, Andrew Schunck of Oak Park Michigan, Amanda Blackburn of Leesburg, Sydney Blackburn of Marietta GA, and Kaitlyn Goodman (his mini me) of San Diego CA, and two great grandchildren Colby Blackburn, and Noah Blackburn.
He made a lasting impression on everyone he met. He never met a stranger. He was a very hardworking man who worked well into his mid 80's. He was an ordained Baptist Deacon. He started his career at CECO building in Columbus Mississippi and transferred to Rocky Mount North Carolina where he was a welding supervisor for 35 years. From there he was a volunteer firefighter for 20 years. He later moved to Leesburg GA in 2007 and worked at Chehaw Park in Albany GA for eleven years where he drove the train, built Christmas lights, and was a security guard.
He loved fishing, tending to his garden, his old blue Ford tractor, the song when the sun goes down, sitting on the porch during a thunderstorm and watching the rain, and just being outdoors working on something or just enjoying the day. He will be remembered by his sense of humor, his stories, his pancakes, his peach seed baskets that he would whittle with his pocket knife, and his fun, loving, fatherly spirt.
He will be greatly missed by his family and the people whose lives he touched.
His family will be taking his cremains to back to Mississippi where his final resting place will be with his mom and dad
