Judy Clark "Judy" Talley

Judith “Judy” Clark Miller Talley, 81, of Leesburg, GA, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at her residence surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, GA, officiated by Rev. Jim Matthias.

Judy was born in Rochester, NY, on November 1, 1943, to the late William and Jeanette Miller. She grew up in the small community of Concord close to Knoxville, TN until graduating from High School. Judy lived in Atlanta, GA, Macon, GA, and Meridian, MS. Judy moved to Albany, GA, in 1981. She married Jim Talley in 1990 and moved to Greenville, NC, where he was employed. They moved to Columbus, GA, in 1993 where they lived for the past twenty-five years. They moved back to Albany, GA, in 2019 to be closer to their children and grandchildren.

Wherever Judy lived, she was extremely active in her community. During her time in Albany, she was the Director of Volunteers in Service to Albany (VISTA), and also worked for The United Way and the Albany Herald. In 2003, she was a graduate of Leadership Columbus which recognizes key players in the community. She retired from The Pastoral Institute in 2012. She was the first female director of the Columbus Harley Owners Group (HOG) which is a national organization of Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiasts.

In her spare time, she created unique greeting cards even earning national recognition in a magazine for her creativity. She loved making scrapbooks for many of her friends, family, and others in Columbus, as well as using her talents to make dollhouses for her granddaughters. From her mother she inherited the gift of music and enjoyed playing the piano.

Survivors include her husband of thirty-five years, James L. “Jim” Talley of Leesburg, GA, her children, Eric Dixon of Sylvester, GA, Scott (Drew) Dixon of Montgomery, AL, Mark (Melissa) Dixon of Hahira, GA and, her step-children, Sarah Talley (Tommy) Moody of Worth County, GA, Michael (Jennifer) Talley of Albany, GA. Her siblings are John (Linda) Miller of Columbus, GA, Joyce Miller of Knoxville, GA and Jeanne (Bud) Woolsey of Sevierville, TN. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Erin Dixon, Shawn Dixon, Mary Dixon, Sophie Moody, Nathan (Aryanna) Talley, Charles Talley, Madilyn (Jared) Thompson and Mei Talley, and her great-granddaughter, Eula Thompson.

The family will receive friends and family at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, GA, on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, starting at 1:00 pm with her Memorial Service following at 2:00 pm.
