Louis Kenny Prescott

Louis “Kenny” Prescott passed away after an extended illness on July 3, 2025. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, July 11, 2025 at Bronwood Baptist Church, 140 N. Geise St., Dawson, GA. A memorial service will begin at 11:00 A.M. Immediately following the service the family will lay to rest their beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather at the Bronwood Cemetery.

Kenny was born on February 4, 1947, in Americus, GA, to the late Louis and Ruth Prescott. He grew up in Bronwood with his siblings. His love for the outdoors and hunting began at an early age. He was never without a good ole’ hunting dog or a gun. He was active in 4H where he raised and showed cattle. He was a boy who also was playing any kind of ball that he could get his hands on. He later attended Terrell County High School, where he played football, basketball, and baseball. He led his baseball team as a pitcher to win a State Championship his senior year in 1965. In high school he also met the love of his life, Gail, who he married as quick as she said, “Yes”. The two of them moved to Tifton for college and while Kenny attended Abraham Baldwin College, they welcomed their first daughter, Lori Helen (Whaley). Kenny finished his education at the University of Georgia earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Agronomy. It was at that time that he began his career as a farmer. Gail and Kenny welcomed their second daughter, Trisha Gayle (McDaniel) in 1970 and their third daughter, Marnie Lynn (Hill) in 1976. In addition to farming, Kenny had a connection with kids. He was an educator and a coach at Terrell Academy and later at Thomas County High, when the family moved to Thomasville for a short period. After returning to Terrell County, Kenny continued farming and raising cattle while also working as an Environmentalist for the Terrell County Health Department.

Kenny was a member and regular attendee of Bronwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He also taught a Bible study where he felt led to share the gospel with the men of the church. During retirement Kenny enjoyed more than anything, spending time with his family. He loved to support his grandchildren in countless sports and activities. Anyone who ever knew Kenny knew that he loved to fish, he loved to hunt, and he loved to cheer on the Georgia bulldogs. But the Dawg he loved most in the world, was his “buddy and pal”, Gauge, who was by his side until the very end. The biggest blessing and celebration in Kenny’s life was on June 8 when he and Gail celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Kenny is predeceased by his parents, Louis and Ruth Prescott, and siblings, Picci Prescott and Cal Prescott. He will be remembered as the cherished husband of Gail Prescott of Bronwood, GA, and the adorded father of Lori (Roy) Whaley of Bronwood, GA; Trisha (Bill) McDaniel of Albany, GA; Marnie (Jimmy) Hill of Macon, GA; the admired older brother of Russ (Sonia) Prescott of Bronwood, GA; the beloved “Papa Kenny” of Callie (Dennis) Keane, Tannah Whaley, Trellis (Blake) Daniell, Eden Hill, Saylor Hill, Cal McDaniel, Charlee McDaniel; the loving great grandfather of Wesley Keane; and cherished relative and friend to countless others.
