Sadie Sills

Sadie Mullins Sills, 84, of Calhoun County passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 after spending a beautiful day with several beloved family members. Sadie was born on May 24, 1936 to the late Robert Allen Mullins and Gertie Mullins Conley. Sadie spent most of her life in Calhoun County where she was born, graduated high school in 1954, worked for the Calhoun County Board of Education for 42 years, and was an active member of Cordray United Methodist Church for many years. Sadie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Izell Sills, her daughter, Renee Cassels, Renee’s 8 children, Mallory, Caleb, Gabriel, Jonah, Titus, and Zion all of Bainbridge, Ga., her son, Morgan (Kalia) of Chatsworth, Ga and her daughter Caprice (Eddie Moore) of Colquitt. Sadie is also survived by her daughter, Deirdre Stephenson (David), Deirdre’s son, Aaron and daughter, Kiley all of Plains, Ga., and Deirdre’s son, Jared and daughter, Jillian both of Columbus, Ga. Sadie is survived by her daughter Meredith (Ron) of Americus, Ga. and Meredith’s sons, Noah and Levi both of Albany, Ga. In addition to her 3 daughters and 14 grandchildren, Sadie also left behind 8 great-grandchildren, Malachi, Lillie, Emily, Kenzlie, Kaden, Zelda, Ariel, and William. A ninth great-grandchild and namesake, baby Sadie is due to join the family in August, 2021. Along with her big family built with her husband, Sadie is also survived by her brother, Hubert Conley (Gisela) from Terrell County, and sisters Becky Brazel, Jean Murphy (Jack), Lola Standley (Leonard), and Vana Thornton all of Calhoun County, and sister Jaki Crowder (Jeff) of Marietta. Sadie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Allen Mullins, Gertie and Lamar Conley, a sister Eunice Guiberson, and two brothers, Walter and Jimmy Conley, and countless other family members. Sadie was a strong Christian who loved reading Christian biographies and listening to old hymns. She was creative and artistic and enjoyed designing and perfecting projects. Sadie especially enjoyed the beauty of flowers and birds. Sadie was a loving, devoted wife, mother, and sister. She loved deeply and was extremely strong, straightforward, and quick-witted. The family will have an intimate celebration of Sadie’s life at Cordray United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 15th at 1:00. Anyone who would like to follow the tradition of bringing food to the family is asked to do so at the time of her memorial service at the church.
