Richard E. Byrd, 73, of Leesburg, GA was called to his Heavenly home on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Emory University Hospital. Memorials services will be conducted Friday, May 10, 2019 at 3:00 at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Curtis Charles Matson and Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.

Richard was born in Ft. Myers, FL and was self employed and worked hard to run a successful landscaping company, guided private hunts and breed, raise and train bird dogs. He spent many years involved in every aspect of field trialing, scouting to hunting, judging and even hosting his own.

Mr. Byrd had a sweet and generous spirit. He was kind, funny and loved with his whole heart. He never met a stranger and went out of his way to help people however he could. He enjoyed spending time with his family, who he loved very much.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, A.P. Byrd and Katherine Briggs Byrd, brother, Gilbert Byrd, sisters, Linda Matson and Mary Ann Istuors and his son, Michael E. Byrd.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Byrd, son, David Byrd and wife Penny all of Leesburg, GA, step son, Michael Depasquale and his wife, Rowena, Washington, State, grandsons, Cole Byrd, Austin Byrd and Cole Wilkinson all of Leesburg, GA, step grandchildren, Amber Depasquale and Blake Depasquale,Washington, State and numerous nieces and nephews.
