William Taylor “W.T.” Clark passed away on November 19, 2025, in Albany, Georgia, at the age of 85. Born on January 11, 1940, in Rossville, Georgia, he was raised primarily in the Midwest and carried with him a deep appreciation for both his Southern roots and Midwestern upbringing throughout his life.
Bill graduated from Piqua High School in Piqua, Ohio, before pursuing higher education at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Georgia. He later earned his degree in Economics from the University of Georgia in Athens. His academic journey laid the foundation for a successful career that spanned three decades.
In 1967, Bill began working with Procter & Gamble’s foods division, where he remained until his retirement in 1996. Among his many accomplishments during that time, he sold the first order of Bounty paper towels in the United States—a milestone he liked to note with a sly smile.
Outside of work, Bill was an avid sportsman who also found joy in watching all things athletic on television. However, it was golf that truly captured his heart. A founding member of River Point Golf Club in Albany, he embraced every opportunity to be on the course. He often remarked that living down South felt like living twice as long because one could play golf year-round—and he did just that.
For much of his life, Bill preferred to walk the course rather than ride. Even as Post-Polio Syndrome began to affect his mobility, he adapted with characteristic determination by purchasing a used golf cart. That cart eventually became affectionately known as “my legs,” carrying him not only across fairways but also around his yard as he tended to his favorite chore—picking up pinecones.
Bill’s love for fishing and spending time on the screen porch reflected a quiet appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. His quirky personality remained intact even as physical and dementia challenges emerged later in life.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 62 years, Linda Clark; daughter, Kathrine Clark (Derek Edwards); son, Chris Clark (Melanie); sister, Bobbie Wilcox (Bob), and two grandchildren, Savannah Connor (Wesley) and Baze Clark. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Taylor Clark; mother, Vula Molander; and stepfather, Carl Molander.
Bill, W. T., Clucker, or Dubby will also be sorely missed by his extended family and friends. His dry sense of humor and knack for giving nicknames to many of his associates, which often stuck, for good or bad.
The Clark family appreciates the dedicated care and professionalism of the nursing staff at Phoebe Hospice, the Willson Hospice House, and his personal care providers. We do not know what we would have done without them.
A casual memorial service at the Clark residence will be announced in the next few days.
Those desiring may make donations in memory of Bill to the Willson Hospice House 320 Foundation Lane, Albany, GA 31707 or to the Dementia Support Center c/o First Methodist Church of Albany, 307 Flint Ave. Albany, GA 31701
