William 'Bill' Mercer, formerly of Leominster, Massachusetts, died peacefully on August 23rd, at the age of 87.
Bill was born on May 1, 1938, in Amesbury, Massachusetts, to Charles and Eleanor (Briggs) Mercer. After graduating from Amesbury High School, he served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960, and then went on to study at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree, he worked in the Ashby and Leominster school systems as an educator and guidance counselor.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Janet (Stubbs) Mercer in 2011. He is survived by his children, Tim and his partner Sandy; Sue and her husband Bryan; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his sister Arlene and her husband Robert; and a special friend, Audrey, who was like an adopted daughter to him.
In keeping with the wishes of Bill, there will be no funeral services.
