William "Terry" Hart

William T. “Terry” Hart, a dedicated railroad executive, beloved husband and proud father passed away May 25, 2026. Terry’s career spanned more than four decades, including leadership roles with The Broe Group/OmniTRAX, North American RailNet, Gulf & Ohio Railways, and the Illinois Central Railroad. He also served as a director of the American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association and as President of the Georgia Railroad Association.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Terry was the best dad to children, Angela, who preceded him in death, and Joel and a devoted husband to Celeste. He enjoyed tennis, competing in the Georgia Championships, making customized canes, horses, archery, martial arts, his pets and shooting sports. Known for his integrity, intelligence and generosity, Terry touched the lives of colleagues, friends and family alike.

Terry is survived by his wife Celeste S. Hart, son Joel Hart, his two grandchildren, Austin Pierce and Gabriella Hart, nephews, John E. Vaughan, Daniel Scuras, and niece, Katherine “Katy” Scuras.

Terry leaves behind a legacy of dedication, leadership and love that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

His memorial service will be held at a later date.
