William Allen (W.A.) Daniel

William Allen (W.A.) Daniel, 79, of Leesburg, GA, died Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Bruce Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

A native of Doerun, GA, Mr. Daniel moved to Albany, GA with his family and graduated from Albany High School. He had resided in Lee County since 1964. He was employed as a maintenance engineer with Holsum Foods for many years and retired in 1986. After his retirement, Mr. Daniel and his wife, Sarah opened and operated Pelham Service Station until 1999. Mr. Daniel was a member of New Hope Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class, where he loved to play the harmonica.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Davis Daniel of Leesburg, GA, four daughters, Patricia Buntin and her husband, Ken of Athens, GA, Melinda Shuemake and her husband, Richard of Leesburg, GA, Bonnie Daniel Stover and her husband, Buck of Douglasville, GA and Penny Daniel Brooks and her husband, Ron of Leesburg, GA, two brothers, Billy Daniel and his wife, Dorothy of Albany, GA and John Wesley Daniel, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, seven grandchildren, Richard Allen Shuemake of Leesburg, GA, Marley Shuemake of Leesburg, GA, Billy Buntin of Orlando, FL, Kyle Buntin of Athens, GA, Kayla Shuemake of Douglasville, GA, Lacy Stover of Douglasville, GA and Haley Brooks of Lee County, GA.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
