Willard Eugene "Gene" Pierce

Willard Eugene “Gene” Pierce, 76, of Albany, Georgia passed away August 13, 2022 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral service will be held Tuesday August 16, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow to Leesburg Cemetery. Charlie Edwards will officiate.

Gene was born on March 3, 1946 in Kinston Alabama to the late Minnie Vee and Grady Eugene Pierce. He served in the US Army from 1965 until 1968 as a Medic. He graduated from Columbus Tech School, and worked with Dolly Madison Bakery before moving to Leesburg. Gene was then employed with Miller Brewing Company as an industrial electrician and worked there for 27 years until he retired.

Gene had attended Amazing Grace Baptist Church and held a membership in Dougherty Lodge #591 F&AM. He was a 32^nd Degree Mason and York Rite Mason. He loved fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. He cooked the best hush puppies ever. He loved listening to the Atlanta Rhythm Section and The Beach Boys and watching Alabama Football. Roll Tide! He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his son James Michael Pierce, Siblings, Bertha Williams, Snowden Pierce, and Willie Ray Pierce

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Janis Norris Pierce of Albany GA, children, Tim Pierce (Dana) of Crawfordville FL, Kristie Cooper (Heath) of Leesburg, GA, grandchildren, Shelby Pierce (Ann) of Crawfordville Fl, Emma Dunkley and Dean Dunkley of Sylvester, GA. two great-grandchildren, Lakelyn Dunkley and Peyton Thomas. Siblings Dell Powell and Beverly Grice all from Opp Al.

In lieu of flowers those desiring may make donations In Memory of Willard Eugene “Gene” Pierce to Phoebe Cancer Center.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
