Wayne Otto Varnadoe

Wayne Otto Varnadoe of Lee County, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Varnadoe will be cremated, and memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Mr. Varnadoe was born in Mobile, Alabama, to the late Theodore and Mary Green Varnadoe. He proudly served his country in both the United States Navy and the United States Coast Guard before earning a degree in Electrical Engineering. Wayne devoted many years of his professional career to BellSouth, later AT&T, where he worked in the Electrical Engineering Department until his retirement.

He loved taking things apart, repairing them, and putting them back together again, rarely turning down the opportunity to solve a mechanical problem. An avid reader, he always loved to learn somthing new.  He also loved going on many road trips and shopping adventures he shared with his beloved wife, Mary.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Alicia Varnadoe, and his daughter, Cathy Barron.

Survivors include his daughter, Christiana Brown; his grandchildren, Amber Burson (Juston), Logan Brown, Jessica Pitts, and Matthew Barron; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Ahlydia Sanchez, Maggie Pitts, Owen Burson, and Sutton Burson.
