Walter Ray Stiltner, 90, of Sasser, GA, died November 20, 2024 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Ed Beltcher will officiate. Interment will follow in Macedonia Primitive Baptist Cemetery with Military Honors.
Mr. Stiltner was born in McCarr, KY to John and Kelsey Stiltner and was raised in Pike County, KY. After High School, he worked for a short time in the coal mines of Kentucky and then joined the United Sates Army where he earned the rank of CW4. Mr. Stiltner was stationed at many bases including the Nike Base in Albany, GA. He served his country for over twenty years and after retirement he returned to the Albany area.
He moved to Terrell County, GA in 1963, was the sales manager with Terrell County Tractor and S&S Tractor in Leesburg and opened and operated Raymar Supply, Inc. in 1985. Mr. Stiltner attended Macedonia Primitive Baptist Church and was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of The Elks, # 713. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Glorine Stiltner and Margaret Stiltner, his sons, Michael Stiltner and Walter Ray Stiltner II, and his step-father, Ralph Brown, step-grandsons Robert T. Brown III, and Chandler Ford Brown.
Survivors include his wife of thirty-five years, Maybelle Stiltner of Sasser, GA, a daughter, Debra “Debby” Stiltner Sapp of Bronwood, GA, his step-children, Robert (Kim) Brown, Jr. of Atlanta, GA, Alice (Ray) Eubanks of Albany, GA and Lynn (Bernie) Lake of Norcross, GA, his sisters, Betty Ritchie and Gertrude “Trudy” Bayne both of Baconton, GA., along with 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 25, 2024 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
