Virginia Broome Brooks

Virginia Broome Brooks, 92, of Albany, GA, died March 8, 2018 at Phoebe Hospice. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Tommy White and Pastor Robert E. Varnadore will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Mrs. Brooks is the daughter of the late Leonard and Eunice Broome and was a native and lifelong resident of Albany, GA. She married her late husband, Angus Harrison Brooks in 1943. Together they owned and operated a home construction and property rental company and worked side by side. Mrs. Brooks was a homemaker, a longtime member of Harvest Temple Church of God and loved to read. She was preceded in death by a son, Max Lamar Brooks and two siblings, Estine Broome Redman and Oran Lee Broome. Survivors include her children, Janice Brooks Burgess and her husband, Freeman of Albany, GA and Doris Ann Brooks Rucker and her husband, John of Pace, FL, a sister-in-law, Betty Smallwood Broome of Albany, GA, a cousin, Rev. George Broome of Weatherford, TX. her grandchildren, Stephanie Rucker McAfee and her husband, Brian of Hahira, GA and Melody Heather Rucker Hamilton and Billy Miller of Gulf Breeze, FL, her great-grandchildren, Samantha Marie McAfee of Hahira, GA, Andrew Bryce Hamilton of Shephard Air Force Base, TX., Joshua Scott Miller, Nathan Shae Miller and Jalyn Grace Miller all of Gulf Breeze, FL.
