Sarah Glenn

Sarah Glenn, 63, of Albany, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Wilson Hospice House, following a sudden illness.

Sarah was born in Asheville, North Carolina, to the late Frank Cover Glenn and Kassiani Papadeas Glenn. She graduated from the University of Kentucky, where she majored in classical languages and taught medical terminology before joining the Department of Continuing Medical Education.

In 2012, her parents’ declining health prompted Sarah to move to Florida to assist them—a time marked by devotion and quiet strength. After settling in Florida, she worked with Lincare, a home healthcare supplier, and quickly became valued for her dedication and professionalism. During the pandemic, she transitioned to working from home, which allowed her the freedom to work from anywhere. Two years ago, she relocated to Albany, Georgia, where she planned to retire.

Sarah had a lifelong love of the written word. She was a gifted writer and published author, using her talent to explore history, people, and the world around her. Writing was central to her life, giving her a way to share her insights, experiences, and her love of language. She especially enjoyed the company of other authors, traveling to historical places, researching new stories, and weaving what she learned into her work. She was an active member of the Short Mystery Fiction Society and Sisters in Crime.

More than anything, Sarah cherished time spent with the people she loved. She valued fellowship with family and friends—sharing conversation, laughter, and a good meal around the table. Those who knew her will remember her intelligence, her humor, her imagination, and her wit.

Sarah is survived by her wife, Gwen Mayo of Albany, Georgia; daughter, Christy McMillen (James) of Grayson, Kentucky; grandsons, Shawn Harvey of Odessa, Florida, and Hunter McMillen (Hannah) of Grayson, Kentucky; brother, Joel Glenn (Kathryn) of Sykesville, Maryland; uncles, Ted Glenn (Frieda) of Weaverville, North Carolina, and Ted Papadeas (Poly) of Fayetteville, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Deanna Familton of Safety Harbor, Florida; brother-in-law, Robert Mayo (Carol) of Grayson, Kentucky; and numerous cousins.

In accordance with her wishes, Sarah will be cremated. No formal services will be held.
