Sara C. Faircloth

Sara C. Faircloth of Albany, GA, passed peacefully at her home on Sunday, February 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and gentle strength. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home, with Rev. Roger Morey and Rev. Richard Parker officiating. She will be laid to rest at Floral Memory Gardens.

Born on New Year’s Day in 1937 in Dickie (Bainbridge), GA, Sara began her life as a bright and hopeful gift to her parents, the late Admiral and Fannie Lou Connell. From the very beginning, she carried a tender heart—always ready to help, always ready to love. She poured her talent and creativity into her home, where she flourished as an extraordinary homemaker. A gifted cook, a masterful seamstress, and the finest left‑handed crocheter around, Sara could create beauty out of anything—whether it was a warm meal, a colorful Afghan blanket, or even a beautifully crafted wedding dress.

She found joy in collecting dolls over the years—a reflection of her playful spirit and her appreciation for small, lovely things. But above all, Sara treasured her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, and great‑great‑grandmother whose love was knitted around her family like one of her crocheted blankets. Her faith anchored her, and she faithfully served as an active member of Faith Baptist Church.

Sara embodied the heart of a Proverbs 31 woman—a shining example of virtue. She rose each day with strength and dignity, guided her home with grace, cared for others without hesitation, and blessed every life she touched. To many, she was more than family; she was a source of comfort, wisdom, encouragement, and unwavering kindness. She wore many titles—wife, mother, grandmother, great‑grandmother, great‑great‑grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, neighbor—but above all, she was a cherished daughter of God.

She is survived by her loving husband of seventy‑one years, Wallace Faircloth; her children Marcia Faircloth (Larry Himli), Tim Faircloth (Charlotte), and Eric Faircloth (Lisa); her grandchildren Lesley Fowler (John), Ryan White, Meredith Chitwood (Wade), T.J. Faircloth (Katie), Clint Faircloth (Ginger), and Brandon Lash Faircloth; five great‑grandchildren (Grace, Fischer, Brynlee, Shoal, Tucker); two great‑great‑grandchildren (Sawyer, Jack-Wallace); her brothers Robert Connell (Nell), Elbert Connell, Jerry Connell (Linda), and Tommy Connell (Kay); and her sisters Jance Bell (Bobby) and Vickie Covington (Bill).

She is preceded in death by her beloved sister, Betty Faircloth.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 4, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
