Russell (Russ) Scott Thrower

Russell (Russ) Scott Thrower, 56, of Leesburg, GA passed away Tuesday. April 22, 2025. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Knight will officiate. 

Born in Albany, GA, Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph C. Thrower, Jr. and Edith Grimes Thrower, a sister, Elaine Thrower and a brother, Ralph C. Thrower. Jr. 

He attended Riverview Academy from 1st-12th grade. He went on to work at Bobs candies and then worked for Kelly Management in Ashburn, GA. In 2016 he moved on to driving a semi truck where he would drive across country with his “ team driver” Jack the toy poodle. He so loved horses . He grew up around horses and learned how to trim & shoe horses from his father . He also enjoyed blacksmith work with his father. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and three toy poodles.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (Liz) Hemling Thrower, Leesburg, GA, siblings, Linda Billings (Rob), Florida and Rebecca Peak, Dawson, GA.

The family will receive friends following the services at Mathews Funeral Home.
