Ruby Florence McCoy

Ruby Wren McCoy, 97, of Albany, GA, died Monday, April 10, 2023 at her son’s residence in Griffin, GA.  Funeral services will be held Friday, April 14, 2023 at 2:00 pm at the chapel of Sherwood Baptist Church.  Rev John Spencer will officiate.  Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. McCoy was born at home in an area called Boggy Gut Creek near Augusta, GA.  She married Roy W. McCoy at the age of 17 and lived in Augusta, GA.  Mrs. McCoy moved to various stations while her husband was in the Military before settling in Albany, GA in 1955.

Mrs. McCoy was a homemaker, wife and mother and was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and the Agape-Friendship Sunday School Class.  She enjoyed reading, crocheting, seeing all her family and going to the mountains.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Eugene McCoy and her husband, Roy W. McCoy, Sr.

Survivors include her children, Pat (Tom) Harrod of Sasser, GA, Roy W. (Dianne) McCoy II of Griffin, GA and Martha M. (Ronald) Cheek of Carrolton, GA, her grandchildren, Sunday (Tim) Black of Sasser, GA, Mack Harrod of Lee County, GA, Julie (William) Smith of Pike County, GA, Wendy (Tommy) Hendrix of Carrolton, GA, Kevin Cheek of Carrolton, GA, Missy (Randy) Riley of Tifton, GA, her great-grandchildren, Kylee, Kelsee, Keegan, Jacob, Jenna, Noah, Cody, Adam and Rylee and her great-great-grandchildren, Saint, Sabrina, Laken and Tiffany.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm in the atrium at Sherwood Baptist Church.
