Ruby (Lee) Kaufman Burnfin, 89, of Albany, GA entered into eternal rest Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Dublinair Health and Rehab in Dublin, GA. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jerome Granade will officiate. Interment Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Jake Powell, Josh Powell, Charlie Burnfin, Chase Burnfin, Mike Post, and Josh Uhl.

Born in Dawson, GA, Mrs. Burnfin grew up in Cuthbert, GA and was a 1951 graduate of Randolph County High School. Upon graduation, she moved to Albany, GA to attend night school. She was invited on a blind date to the Marine Corps Ball with a dashing young marine, Mearl J. Burnfin, whom she eventually married. Together they had four children.

Mrs. Burnfin retired from the MCLB in the mid 1980’s giving her time to enjoy her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most especially giving her time with her beloved husband for trips to see family and spending time at the lake.

She also fully enjoyed her passions of gardening, cooking and sewing all of which she excelled.

She attended church at First Baptist Church of Leesburg and when she was no longer able to drive, her son Mearl (Buddy) made certain to drive her to midweek Bible Study, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

She was much beloved by her whole family, who were blessed to have their precious “GG” in their lives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto Kaufman and Eardeal Price Kaufman.

Survivors include her children, Renee Burnfin Fraser (Craig), Dublin, GA, Mearl Burnfin, Jr., Georgetown, GA, Janice Post (Michael), Georgetown, GA, Stephen Burnfin (Sharon), Albany, GA, sister, Earlene Garcia, Albany, GA, eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law, Roy Burnfin, Warrensburg, MO, Tommy Burnfin, Ronnie Burnfin both of Holden, MO, sister-in-law, Charlotte Burnfin, Atlanta, GA, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 2, 2023 from 10:00 am until the funeral hour at Mathews Funeral Home.
