Ruby Jean Anderson, 95, of Albany, GA passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. David Postlewaite will officiate. Private interment service will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson was born in Baker Co., GA and married Lehmon Russell Anderson on June 14,1946. She LOVED the Lord, her family and friends and loved her church. She was heavily involved in her children’s lives as a stay-at-home mom. She also attended every activity in which they were involved. After her children became adults, Mrs. Anderson attended church softball games with her friends. She routinely watched the Braves and the UGA Bulldogs. She was famously known for her Southern Cooking. Some favorites were her fourteen-layer chocolate cake, her caramel cake and her walnut cake. She enjoyed spending time with her family and often had funny stories or special names for each of the great grandchildren. Nothing ever went unspoken with “Great Gran”.
Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents, John Alonzo Maples and Ruby Florence Parr Maples, her husband, Lehmon Russell Anderson, and her sons, David Russell Anderson,,John Lehmon Anderson and son-in-law, David Sledge, Sr.
Survivors include her daughter, Jenny Anderson Sledge, Albany, GA, daughters-in-law, Laura Anderson, Putney, GA, Wendy Wood Anderson, Albany, GA, grandchildren, Russ Anderson, Leesburg, GA, Ryan Anderson, Albany, GA, Amanda Cauley, Leesburg, GA and David Sledge, Jr., Leesburg, GA and ten great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 6, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
