Rosie Rebecca Nickerson

Rosie Rebecca Hunter Nickerson of Graves, died Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Seymour Southern Comforts in Bronwood, GA. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13 at 10 am at New Bethel Baptist Church in Dawson. Rev. Dan Craft will officiate. Her family and friends called her Becky.

Becky was born in Greenville, MS., on August 3, 1944 to the late Benjamin and Bertha Hunter. She moved to the Graves Community as a young child after her mother married William Barfield, Sr.

Becky went to live with her sister, Dorothy, and graduated from Albany High School. After graduation she worked for and retired from Bellsouth, now AT&T, after many years of service. Becky was an artist and enjoyed painting. She also enjoyed doing puzzles and reading. She was an active member of New Bethel Baptist Church and loved her church family.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Helen Bassett, Dorothy Brent, Floyd Griffin, Roy Hopkins, JW Barfield, Felicia Raybon, Nanelle Dent, Jewelene Hamlin, Earnest Barfield and Bobby Barfield. and a special friend, Jeanelle Harvey.

Survivors include her sister, Ethel Mae Barfield, her brothers, William B. Barfield, Jr. (Joyce) and George Barfield, two special nieces, Ruth McElvain and Kathy Bankston, and a nephew, Britt Barfield of Greenville, SC, a nephew, Bill Alcorn, and an adopted niece, Shannon Harvey Ward, and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
