Robert L. Voegtle

Robert L. Voegtle, 75, of Worth County, GA, formerly of Albany, GA, died December 31, 2023 at his residence.  Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, January 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Worth County.  Rev. Bruce Gordon will officiate.  A private family committal will be held at 2:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Cairo, GA.

Robert was born on September 11, 1948 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to Theodore and Mary Voegtle.  He grew up in Albany and graduated from Albany High School in 1968.  Robert attended Albany Technical College and Darton College.  He was employed as an EMT for many years with Dougherty County EMS. Robert was also employed with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital before his retirement.

Robert moved the Worth County, GA in 1977 and was a member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church.  He raised Homing Pigeons for over fifty years before retiring in 2008 and was a member of The Albany Homing Pigeon Club.  In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy Pearce Voegtle and a brother, Theo Voegtle.

Survivors include his wife, Joy Daniels Voegtle, his son, Robby L. Voegtle, Jr, his daughter, Heather V. (Danny) Clontz, his step-children, Chasity (Donnie) Keesecker, Melissa (James) Lester and Mike (Karden) Lillis, IV, his grandson, Daniel Clontz and his step-grandchildren, Andrew Werst, Cole Shattuck, Cameron Shattuck and Carson Shattuck.

The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 10:00 am until 11:00am.
