Robert G. "Bob" Parsons

Robert G. “Bob” Parsons, 85, of Lee County, GA, died July 5, 2024 at his residence. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday, July 8, 2024 at 10:00 am at Leesburg Cemetery. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.

Bob was born in Sioux Falls, SD on December 4, 1938 to Harold and Pauline Parsons. He grew up there and later he joined the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Albany, GA in 1960 at Turner Field and met his future wife, Myrtle Story. They were married in 1963 and moved to Lee County, GA in 1978 to raise their family. 

Bob was employed with Merck Chemical Company for thirty plus years where he was a machinist and millwright. He was a member of the Sportsman Club and the Loyal Order of The Moose # 1285. Bob enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and traveling with Myrtle to Biloxi, MS and Deadwood, SD. His hobbies and goals were his family, he worked and sacrificed everything for his family and enjoyed traveling near and far to watch his grandkids play ball. Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Lacy Griffin, a granddaughter, Shayla Griffin, a great-granddaughter, Shaylin Griffin and his wife, Myrtle Story Parsons.

Survivors include sons, Shane (Rana) Parsons and Boulder (Ginger) Parsons, grandchildren, Shayna (Jeremy) Ellis, Kaylin Griffin, Destiny Edwards, Kolt (Kaitlyn) Parsons all of Lee County, GA, Autumn Parsons of Savannah, GA and Stone (Makayla) Parsons of Springfield, GA, and great-grandchildren, Haze, Steel, Brylyn, Triton, Gatlin, Sylar, Pearl, Memphis and Jett. 

The family will receive friends following the service on Monday at Bob’s residence on Philema Road.
