Robert L. Nelson, Sr.

Robert Leroy Nelson, Sr., 84, of Dawson, GA, formerly of Albany, GA, died January 30, 2023 at Dawson Health Care.  No services will be held at this time.

Mr. Nelson was born in Clyde, ND on December 12, 1939 to Arthur and Lottie Nelson.  He grew up there and after graduating from High School, he joined the United States Navy.  He was stationed in Jackson, MS and there he met his wife, Billie Olivia Stewart. 

After serving his country for eight years, he was employed with Waukesha Manufacturing Company as a Hose and Hydraulic Engineer and retired after thirty years.  He moved to Albany, GA in 2005 and he and his late wife loved to travel and he loved the Atlanta Braves.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Nelson, his son, Robert L. Nelson, Jr., a brother, Henry Nelson, three sisters, Janet Robinson, Nellie Nelson and Pearl Nelson.

Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie Nelson of Oakfield, GA, a granddaughter, Christen Anderson of Lee County, GA, great grandchildren, Christopher Lee Anderson, Rylee Jean Olivia Anderson, and his siblings, Edwaard (Debbie) Nelson of Whitmire, ND and Alice Rubash and Rosemary Nelson both of Waupaca, WI.
