Robert Knight, 18, of Lee County, GA., died unexpectedly Wednesday June 3, 2026 due to injuries from an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 7, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Amazing Grace Baptist Church. Rev. Robert Watson will officiate. Graveside will follow in Smithville Cemetery.
Rob was born in Huntsville, AL., He has always been a gentle giant with a heart of pure gold. No matter what he went through, he always wore a smile that lit up the room. His personality was larger than life- genuine and full of joy. You couldn't be in his presence without feeling the need to smile. He was contagious, his laughter was infectious-you wanted to be around him always. Rob was the kind of person who constantly looked for any way to help others, even if he was struggling, he was going to make sure everyone else was alright before focusing on himself. Rob shared a special bond with his siblings and cherished every opportunity to spend time with them. For that they adored him, looked up to him, and loved him beyond measure.
Rob found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, playing basketball, and riding dirt roads with the windows down playing music and singing his heart out. Rob looked forward to beginning his senior year at Lee County High School, where he planned to re-join the football team. He was already working toward his future by taking college classes through Albany Technical College. With a passion for carpentry and construction, Rob dreamed of building homes and creating something meaningful with his hands. He was excited about the future and the opportunities that lay ahead.
He is survived by a very large blended family consisting of his siblings, Justin Knight, Jesus Padilla, Ishmael Padilla, Alberto Knight, Adriana Hernandez, Cayden Nelms, Landon Ellis and Julia Ellis, his parents Heather Hearon and Rece Ellis, his grandfather Bobby Knight, his “Gramm” Barbara Beauchamp, his “Opa” Clyde Ellis, his “Gee-Gee”, George Harrison, his "Papa" James Michael Hearon, Sr., his uncle Adrian Ferrer (Brandi), his aunt Jessica Reed (Lynsey) and many cousins.
Although Rob's life was cut far too short, the impact he made will last forever. His kindness, laughter, compassion, and love for others will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone blessed to know him. He leaves behind a legacy of joy and a reminder to love deeply, laugh often, and cherish every single moment. Rob's light may no longer shine among us, but its warmth will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved him.
The family will receive friends and family Saturday, June 6, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
