Robert James Corbin

Robert “Bob” James Corbin was born on October 25, 1936, in Denver Colorado. He enlisted in the Navy as soon as he was able to, where he proudly served his country for over 22 years as an aircraft hydraulic technician and military police. While in the Navy, he was last stationed in Albany, Georgia, where he met the love of his life, Georgia Ann, and lived the remainder of his life. After retiring from the Navy, he was employed as an X-ray technician, but if you asked him, his real job was helping Georgia Ann with her Avon business.

In his spare time, he was an avid reader, watched the Atlanta Braves religiously, spoiled their beloved dogs rotten, looked after the neighborhood’s stray cats, and helped anyone who needed it - if they were brave enough to get past his cantankerous exterior. On rare occasion, he was also known to enjoy a cold Coors. Bob was a man of few words, unless he started talking about politics. When his wife was alive, his few words mainly consisted of, “Yes, dear,” which he said with a playful tone and mischievous twinkle in his eye. He tended to be more action-oriented; if it needed to be done, he did it. Except cooking, which was not his thing. You could always count on him for anything else though, no matter how simple or how significant. Bob passed calmly and at peace on August 11, 2026, in Albany, Georgia.

He joins his wife, Georgia Ann (Pate) Corbin; son, Michael Pate; son-in-law, Jim (Kathy) Oglesby; grandson, Patrick Cohan, and granddaughter, Lori Pate.

He will be missed by his children, Clara (Pate) Canaday, Kathy (Pate) Oglesby, and Lewis Pate; grandchildren, Christopher (Nikki) Cohan, Rebecca (Eric) Canaday Bouquio, Bryan Pate, Ricky Pate, Jesse (Tasha) Oglesby, John Oglesby, Vasco Canaday, and Justin (Annie) Hickey; 24 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and many more nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Bob will be remembered on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 11:00 am. The service will take place at Mt. Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church, 1753 Evergreen Road, Sylvester, Georgia.
