Richard “Ricky” H. Taylor, IV., 45, of Sumner, GA., died Friday, June 19, 2026 at his residence. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Knight will officiate.
Ricky was born in Albany, GA and loved spending his time fishing and hunting. He was known by friends as “Ricky Bobby”. He spent several years in the law enforcement industry and served in Albany, Dawson and Sylvester in various roles. Ricky recently was employed with Proctor and Gamble. He also had a passion for cooking and went to culinary school. Ricky loved animals and greatly loved his pets, Remi “Meaty”, Pondcat and his chickens.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dick and Ellen Taylor.
Survivors include his daughter, Alyssa Taylor, his father Richard “Bubba” H. Taylor, III. (Maureen “Mo”), his mother, Teresa Letchworth Taylor, his step father Benny King, his sister, Melissa A. Johnston (Lis), his nephew, Logan Dakota Johnston. (Rylee Bryant), his great nephew, Jaxon Johnston, his niece, Ellen Paige Johnston and his cousins, Candace Carter and Josh Carter and Shawn Lippert (Crystal) and his aunts and uncles, Steve and Lynn Lippert and Milton and Terri Carter.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. Those desiring may make donations in memory of Ricky to the Georgia Diabetes Research Foundation, Inc. P.O. Box 1344, Leesburg, GA. 31763or to MOTIF Sober Living, motifsoberliving.org.
