Rhoda Del Vecchio

Rhoda Del Vecchio, 88, of Albany, GA, went to be with the Lord on April 25, 2023.  Funeral services will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 at 3:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.  Pastor Barry Butters will officiate.  Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Del Vecchio was born on July 15, 1934 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Michael and Louise Bocchichio.  She graduated from Lynhurst High School and Eastern Bible Institute in Green Lane, Pennsylvania, Bible School.  She married Daniel Del Vecchio in 1960 and for the next 63 years they served the Lord in the Missionary Field in Cuba, Mexico, and Spain.  She was a faithful and loving wife, dedicated mother of four children, a wonderful mother-in-law and grandmother to two grandchildren.

At an early age she studied Opera and was an accomplished singer, however when God called her to spread the gospel and bring people to Christ, she dedicated all her talents to Him. She loved God First and her heart and passion to extend the Kingdom of God as a pastor’s wife and missionary evangelist working in children’s ministry, women’s ministry and in anointed worship singing. Together with her husband they pioneered Drug Rehabilitation Centers and the Churches of ICEA - Iglesia Cristiana Evangelica Apostolica, in Spain.

She moved to Albany, GA in 1990 but continued traveling with her husband and daughter to minister in Spain half of the year, until her health made it impossible to travel. Her last trip to Spain was in 2021.

Her devotion to God, and her genuine love for people has blessed and influenced thousands of lives and her legacy, especially in Spain, is a lasting testimony of a life well spent dedicated to serving God and helping people. As Jesus said, “in as much as you have done it to the least of these you have done it to me”. Her bright and joyful presence in our lives will be greatly missed. She fought a good fight, she finished her course, she kept the faith. Now there is laid up for her a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give her. She is now at home in the Presence of Jesus, singing with the angelic hosts.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Del Vecchio of Albany, GA, her children, Daniel Del Vecchio, Jr, Deborah Del Vecchio Butters and her son-in-law, Barry Butters, Rebecca Del Vecchio and David Paul Del Vecchio, sister, Ella Talvy, and grandchildren, Paloma Lillian Mumu Lasiter and Ben Lassiter.

All are invited for refreshments following the graveside committal at the Westover Community Church, 416 N. Westover Blvd., Albany, GA, 31707.
