It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Randall "Randy" Raymond Evans, who departed unexpectedly from this world on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the age of 70.
Born on April 27, 1956, in the quaint town of Donaldsonville, Georgia, Randy was the cherished son of Raymond "Ray" Evans and Shirley Ann Evans. Randy's early years were marked by the nurturing love of a family that instilled in him the values of kindness, integrity, and loyalty. He carried these values throughout his life, touching the hearts of many along his path.
Randy's educational journey began at Dougherty High School in Albany, Georgia, where he cultivated a love for learning and developed friendships that would last a lifetime. Though life presented its challenges, Randy faced each with resilience and a steadfast spirit, guided by the love of his devoted parents, Raymond and Shirley Ann Evans, who preceded him in death.
In his personal life, Randy was blessed with a soulmate in Patricia "Trish" Carrico Evans, with whom he shared a beautiful life until her passing.
Their love story was one of unwavering devotion and shared dreams. Together, they created a family that became Randy's greatest joy and source of pride. He was also preceded in death by his cherished grandson, Isaiah Mullins of Reynolds, Georgia, whose memory Randy held close to his heart.
Randy is lovingly remembered by his children: daughters Casey Mullins, married to Brad, of Reynolds, Georgia, and Gwen Huerta, married to Nick, of Tifton, Georgia; sons Jason Westover of Lakeland, Florida, and Tyler Foley of New Salisbury, Indiana. His beloved sister, Betty Farrow, along with her husband Ricky, of Albany, Georgia, provided Randy with the unwavering support of family bonds. Recently, Randy had also reconnected and found companionship and happiness with his high school sweetheart and loving fiancée, Anita "Jo" Sorrow of Albany, Georgia.
Together, they shared cherished memories, moments and created new memories that would bring a great deal of comfort and joy to Randy's heart.
Randy's legacy is carried forward by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought light and laughter to his life, alongside many nieces and nephews who he loved and cherished him dearly.
Randy's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and friendship. His kind nature and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He was known for having quick wit and great sense of humor. He was kind and generous and loved by both family and friends. He always put a friend before himself. He had a special place in his heart for both children and individuals with developmental disabilities, who he worked with most of his career. Randy had a strong faith in God and believed in the power of prayer.
Randy had a passion for dreaming and adventure and shared his father's passion for music. He played the drums and had played with several local bands around Albany, Georgia during his lifetime. Randy lived his life to the fullest. A dedicated “Georgia” boy, and a lifelong Georgia Bulldogs fan, Randy’s dedication to the red and black never wavered. Saturdays in the fall were sacred, spent cheering on his beloved Dawgs alongside family and friends. His closet lined with only Georgia Bulldog shirts (one for each day of the week), he was always easy to spot in a crowd by the noted red and black shirts he wore.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we take solace in knowing that his legacy of love, kindness, and perseverance will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
A celebration of Randy's life will be held on Saturday, May 23rd at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, Georgia. Family will be wearing his sacred colors of red and black to honor his memory.
Randy, you will forever be in our hearts. May you rest in eternal peace, reunited with those who have gone before, and forever watching over those you leave behind, and cheering from heaven “GO DAWGS”.
