Phyllis Paul “Coot” Stamps, 78, of Atlanta and Suwanee, GA died Sunday, June 25, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her family.
A celebration of life followed by a reception will be held Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Merry Acres in Albany.
Coot was born on December 8, 1944 to J.D. and Maydie Paul in Shellman, GA. Her family moved her sophomore year of high school to Albany in 1959. She graduated from Albany High School in 1962. In 1966, she married Bert Stamps. They had 3 children together and later divorced in 1984. She retired from Carquest Auto Parts after 25 years of dedicated employment in 2009. In 2017, she moved to Atlanta to be closer to her children.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Vaughan Paul, nephew, Steve Paul, sister, Nadine Edwards, and brothers, Haywood “Buddy” Paul and Ronnie “Kat” Paul.
Survivors include her son, Shell Stamps of Atlanta, daughter, Christy Stamps (Leigh) of Suwanee, son, Casey Stamps of Atlanta, granddaughter, Lily Stamps, and her beloved basset hound, Lola Waffles.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to an animal shelter or rescue group of their choice.
