Peggy Gilchrist West

Peggy Sharon Gilchrist West, 79, of Leesburg, GA, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2026 surrounded by family.

Born on November 25, 1946, in Thomaston, GA, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert Lamar West, her parents, Charles and Mary Gilchrist, and her brother, Stephen Gilchrist. Peggy was known for her faith and devotion to her family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and talking about happy memories throughout the years.

Peggy is survived by her children and their spouses, Michael West, and his wife Ashley, Charles West and his wife Gayle, Daniel West and his wife Jacquelyn, Mary Robin Torre and her husband, Paul along with her grandchildren, Jessica Hunter, and her husband Brandon, John Robert Rowland, Ashleigh Edmondson, and her husband Jake, Victoria Milam, and her husband Jacob, Alyson Privette, and her husband Cole, Hudson West, and her four great grandchildren, Charlie, Owen, Amelia and Jackson, as well as her sister-in-law, Patricia Gilchrist, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will gather for a graveside service to be held on 10:00 a.m., September 4, 2026, at Crown Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Mathews Funeral Home.

Though Peggy will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
