Paul Edwin Patterson, 95, of Albany, GA, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on Sunday, November 2, 2025. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Sherwood Baptist Church, with Rev. John Spencer officiating.
Paul was born in Charlotte, NC, to the late Carlos and Beulah Patterson. During his high school years, he was a talented all-around athlete, excelling in sports such as boxing, bowling, and baseball. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Paul later moved to Albany and worked at Moore Business Forms for many years before starting American Printing Company, where he remained until his retirement.
In retirement, Paul enjoyed playing golf at Grand Island, but he found even greater joy in spending time with his family and cheering on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events. Above all, he cherished the love of his devoted wife of seventy-three years, Jerri. Their bond was a constant source of strength and joy, and his adoration for her was evident to all who knew them. A devoted member of Sherwood Baptist Church for nearly 50 years, he sang in the choir and served in various roles throughout the church. Paul’s love for service extended beyond the sanctuary, as he even participated in a church mission trip to help with painting building projects when he was in his 80s.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Paul was deeply loved by his family and all who knew him. He will be remembered for his servant’s heart, sense of humor, lovingpersonality, and unwavering commitment to faith and family.Survivors include his beloved wife, Jerri Patterson; his daughter, Paula Akins (Bill); his son, Lee Patterson (Tracy); his grandchildren, Aubrie Trotter (Matt), Candis Skipper, Wil Akins (Wesleigh), Ben Patterson, and Bethany Patterson; and his great-grandchildren, Maddox Skipper and Blake Trotter.
Paul’s family would like to thank those who supported him and the family through the transition, and specifically Tessa Harnage, Desiree Miller, and Sharica Cox of Georgia Hospice House, along with his in-home caretakers, Shiela Rivers, Regina Shealy, and Elaine Johnson. Their care and assistance were invaluable, providing great comfort for which the family is grateful beyond words.
He will be missed greatly but remembered as a great man. Though Paul has gone to be with the Lord, his family and friends look forward to the day they will be reunited with him in heaven.
