Kathryn Shepherd Moore

Kathryn Shepherd Moore, 83, of Lee County, GA, died April 16, 2022 at her residence surrounded by her boys and family.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home.  Ralph Moore, Jr and Scott Shepherd will officiate.  Committal services will follow at 2:00 pm at Clements Chapel Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Moore was born in Ashburn, GA to George and Anna Lunsford.  She grew up in Sycamore and graduated from Sycamore High in 1956 where she excelled in basketball and scored over 60 points in several games.  She married Ralph Moore in 1957 and they moved to Albany, GA before settling in Lee County, GA.

Mrs. Moore was employed with General Motors Corporation for eighteen years and was a member of Thundering Springs Baptist Church and the Adult Sunday School Class.  She loved her family, flowers and sports.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph M. Moore, Sr, an infant son, Gregory Wayne Moore and two siblings, Jack Shepherd and Burt Shepherd.

Survivors include her sons, Ralph (Cynthia) Moore, Jr of Bogart, GA, Tim (Polly) Moore of Blakely, GA and Chip (Stephanie) Moore of Lee County, GA, a sister, June Hobbs of Eatonton, GA, her grandchildren, Anna Rose Moore, Christa Lynn Moore, Chad Moore, Mellanie Moore and Sydney Taff and one great-grandchild, Evelyn Taff and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Moore’s family would like to extend a special thankyou to her caretakers, Pam Hall, Judy Pickett and Tammy Pickett.

The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
