Norman Reid Pipkin, of Albany, GA., died Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Vivia Senior Living at the age of 97. A graveside service will be held Monday, June 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Crest Lawn Memorial Park in Atlanta, GA.
Reid was born in Cairo, Georgia on January 28, 1929 to Norman and Minnie Pipkin. After graduating from Cairo High School he moved to Atlanta where he attended Marsh Business College. He was an active member of Buckhead Baptist Church, serving in many capacities including church treasurer, deacon and Sunday School Director. He was a member of the choir and the JOY group. After retiring from the grocery industry, he moved to Albany in 2016 to be closer to family. While in Albany he attended Albany First Baptist Church as long as he was able.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Madeline Buffinton Pipkin and Mary Futrell Pipkin, sisters Eugenia Pipkin York of Cedartown, Frances Pipkin Hill of Dawson and brother Charles Pipkin of Cairo.
He is survived by a number of nieces and nephews, including Jean Hill Highsmith of Dawson.
