Nell Hallum Blaylock

Nell Hallum Blaylock, 92, of Moultrie, GA formerly of Albany, GA passed away, Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Pruitt-Magnolia Manor in Moultrie, GA. Funeral Services will be conducted, Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Nell was born in outside of Smithville, in DeKalb County, Tennessee at the farmhouse of her Grandparents. Her parents were Vada Elizabeth Fuson and William Jennings Hallum. 

She grew up in Watertown, Tennessee, having moved there at the age of 3. During those years she attended and became a lifelong Methodist. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1952. Having played basketball on the women’s team there After high school she moved to Nashville, Tennessee and began working at Singer Sewing Machine Company.

While living at a small apartment building owned by her future sister-in-law, she met Lonnie Blaylock. They married on June 19th, 1954, at the home of her mother and stepfather in Watertown. In Nashville, they were blessed with 3 children. Bonnie Lou, Danny, and Beth Ann. In the summer of 1965, they moved to Albany, Georgia. And in the fall of 1967, they moved to Gainesville, Florida because of Lonnie’s work. But soon returned to Albany in June of 1968.

After the death of her husband of 30 years, Lonnie, Nell lived in Albany until 2023. During that time, she worked at C&S Bank and First State Bank (later known as Regions Bank). She retired in 1999. In 2023, she moved to Moultrie, Georgia. Living at Magnolia Manor ALF until her death.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Charles Blaylock. (1983),Her mother, Vada Fuson Hearn. (1923) Her Father, William Jennings Hallum. (1984), Her sister and brother-in-law, Waltyne and James LaFevor.

She is survived by her children: Bonnie Lou Blaylock Ussery (James M. Ussery) of Lithia, Florida, Charles Daniel Blaylock (Kathryn Higginbotham Blaylock) of Moultrie, Georgia, and Elizabeth Ann Blaylock Rouse (Michael David Rouse) of Morgan, Georgia. Grandchildren: Brian Christopher Ussery (Kelly Ussery), Ashley Elizabeth Ussery Mackiewicz (Craig Mackiewicz), Joshua Flanders Ussery, Callie Rose Ussery Ackerman (Christopher Ackerman), Tilden Daniel Blaylock, Kelly Elizabeth Payne Blaylock, Lonnie Michelle Rouse Powell (Troy Powell), Kourtney Elizabeth Rouse-Verdeguez (Alex Verdeguez).Great-Grand Children: Jacob Thomas Mackiewicz, Anderson Leigh Ussery, Abigail Elizabeth Mackiewicz, Riley Grace Ussery, Elizabeth Rose Ackerman, and Charlotte Grace Ackerman, Alexandra Verdeguez, Alexander Verdeguez, Ignacio Verdeguez, A.J. Verdeguez, Michael Verdeguez, and RylObituaryan Verdeguez, Tucker Powell, Carter Powell, and Hunter Powell. And numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins that she greatly loved and adored.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at 10:00 am until the funeral hour, at Mathews Funeral Home.
