Nell Odom

Nina Gennell “Nell” Odom, 94, a longtime resident of Leesburg, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at Seymour Southern Comforts in Bronwood, Georgia. A private family graveside will be held at Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery in Worth County, GA. and she will be interred beside her late husband, Friedson "Frick" Odom.

Born in Ozark, Alabama, Nell lost her hearing as a young child and went on to graduate from the Alabama School for the Deaf. She communicated through sign language and never let her hearing loss keep her from enjoying the things she loved. She worked as an inspector at Fritex Industries in Albany, Georgia, for 25 years and was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church.

Nell had a special love for music and dancing. Although she could not hear the music, she loved feeling its vibrations and dancing along to the rhythm. Above all, Nell loved her family and treasured time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. The love she had for her family and the memories they shared will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Friedson "Frick" Lee Odom, and her grandson, Morgan Odom. She is survived by her three children, James “Don” Odom (Susan), Deborah “Debbie” Odom Hajek (Phillip), and Eddie Scott Odom (Donna); her grandchildren, Summer Odom, Abby Odom Hinson (Wesley), and Taylor Deen Wiggins (Clay); and her six great-grandchildren, Asa Odom, Chloe Odom, Marley Odom, Walker Wiggins, Westin Hinson, and Benjamin Wiggins. Nell leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a loving family who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Those desiring may make memorials in memory Nell to Lee County Animal Shelter, 101 Mossy Dell Rd, Leesburg, GA 31763.
