Nancy Coleman McLendon

Nancy Coleman McLendon passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday May 21, 2026 at Beaufort Memorial Hospital in Beaufort, SC.

Nancy lived a joyous life marked by service and community involvement. Her most cherished jobs included past president of Theatre Albany, past manager of the Albany Polecats, teacher at First United Methodist Church pre-school, and a paraprofessional at Lee County Elementary school for the past 8 years.

Her love for theatre continued throughout her entire life by supporting Theatre Albany and Lee County High School Theatre as resident seamstress and Grammie to all. Nancy found joy in helping others, traveling with friends, and attending hundreds of concerts. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren and supporting them no matter what.

Nancy was a graduate of Westover High School class of 1972 where she made lifelong and cherished friendships.

Nancy is preceded in death by her parents Tom and Grace Coleman and brother in law Larry Golden.

Survivors include her son Matthew McLendon (Lori), daughter Whitney McLendon Dale (Joe); grandchildren Caleb, Grace, and Chloe Dale and Grady McLendon; the father of her children Danny McLendon, daughter in love Kim Cunningham, and siblings Martha Golden, and Tommy Coleman (Dana), her nieces and nephews that she loved dearly, and her hip sisters Jo Joiner and Jenny McNair. 

Nancy will be remembered by her generous spirit, giving personality, and love for Rock N’ Roll. Her legacy will live on through her grandchildren and children, and everyone who got to call her “Grammie”.

Celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 30th, 2026 at 2:00 at Avalon Methodist Church, 3018 Gillionville Rd. Albany, Ga, 31721. The family will receive friends at 1:00 prior to the service.
