Nancy Carole Derrig, 87, of Lee County, GA, died July 25, 2025, at Dawson Manor in Dawson, GA. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Philema Road Baptist Church. Rev. Aaron McCulley will officiate. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow on Monday, August 4, 2025, at noon in Summerville Cemetery in Summerville, SC.
Mrs. Derrig was born on December 9, 1937, in Williamson, WV, to William and Opal Hensley. She was employed at the Navy Lodge. She met her husband, Dennis Joseph Derrig, at The Charleston Navy Base. Mrs. Derrig was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. After her husband passed in 2007, Mrs. Derrig enjoyed being a homemaker and moved to Lee County, GA. She was a member of Philema Road Baptist Church, where she was active in the Senior Sunday school class. Mrs. Derrig also enjoyed shopping, fellowship with friends, and Church trips. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Derrig, a son, Karl David Davis, a daughter, Angela Carole Phillips, and her siblings, William Fred Hensley, Jr., Millard Roger Hensley, Johnnie Mack Barber, and Brenda Sue Victory.
Survivors include her children, Freddie Lee Davis of Mills River, N.C., and Debi Wood (Ed) of Lee County, GA and son-in-law Mac Phillips of Mt Vernon, IN, her siblings, Richard Paul Barber of Detroit, MI and Linda Gail Miller (Ben) of Collinwood, TN, grandchildren, Misti Waller, Cory Davis, Nick Phillips, and various great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathy may contribute to her final expenses.
