Monterey R. (Monte) Moody

Monterey R. (Monte) Moody, 66, of Leesburg, GA died Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Willson Hospice House. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Philema Road Baptist Church. Rev. Aaron McCulley, Rev. Grady Morey and Judge Jim Thurman will officiate.

Born in Cuthbert, GA, Mr. Moody lived in Morgan, GA where he graduated high school and remained until he joined US Air Force. Mr. Moody had resided in Leesburg, GA since 1980 moving from Bainbridge, GA. He was in law enforcement all of his adult life, whether it be in the City of Leesburg Police, Constable of Lee County and Lee Co. Sheriff’s Department. He coached and umpired little league baseball in Lee Co., GA, served as volunteer fire chief at Lee State Prison and did security work with Stardust Skate Center. He attended Philema Road Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Melvin R. Moody and Vaudene Williams Moody, his wife Carole Murray Moody and a son, Billy V. Davidson. Survivors include his girlfriend, Tammie R. Horton, Leesburg, GA, brother, Steve Moody (Karen), Harker Heights, TX, sons, Sammy Moody (Marie), Albany, GA and Stephen Moody (Jeri), Hinesville, GA, foster sister, Connie Shiver Carter (David) Albany, GA, grandchildren, Alex Davidson (Melissa), Statesboro, GA, Andy Moody, Stephen Moody, Jr. and Christopher Moody, two great-grandchildren, Landon Davidson, Liam Davidson, remembered by best friend, Judge Jim Thurman and special friend, Lee Boyette, Jr.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, February 25, 2020 from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Philema Road Baptist Church, 114 Stocks Dairy Rd., Leesburg, GA, 31763.
