Michael Keith McWaters

Michael Keith McWaters, 56, of Leesburg, GA passed away Monday, July 27, 2026. The family will receive friends Saturday, August 1, 2026 in the chapel of Mathews Funeral Home from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Michael spent many years working on the road with Georgia Electric before spending the last several years painting homes and businesses throughout Southwest Georgia. He took pride in what he did, and wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty.

But if you asked Michael, work wasn't what mattered most. His favorite days were spent with his family-making memories with his daughter, Amber; taking his grandson, Hunter, to monster truck shows; exploring Georgia's parks with his wife, standing around the pool, watching Georgia Bulldog Football with family and friends, grilling good food and enjoying a cold beer. Those simple moments were the ones he treasured most because, to Michael, family was always the best part of life.

Mr. McWaters was preceded in death by his mother, Linda Golden; his stepfather, Obie Golden; and his brother, Steve Anthony McWaters (Donna). 

Survivors include his loving wife, Kerrie E. McWaters and daughter, Amber Newell both of Lee Co., GA, brother, David Wayne McWaters, Albany, GA, grandson, Hunter Gage Hall, Lee Co., GA, nephews, Eric McWaters and Anthony McWaters and several great nieces and nephews.
