Mearl "Buddy" Jasper Burnfin, Jr.

Mearl "Buddy" Jasper Burnfin, Jr., 69, of Georgetown, Georgia, passed away at his residence on Monday, June 22, 2026. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Mathews Funeral Home at 12 Noon. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow to Floral Memory Gardens. 

Born in Albany, Georgia, Buddy was the son of the late Mearl Jasper Burnfin, Sr. and Ruby Burnfin. He spent much of his life in Southwest Georgia and moved to Georgetown in 2023. Buddy retired from an electronics recycling facility.

Buddy enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time fishing, water skiing, and making memories with family and friends. In his younger years, he was an avid bowler and enjoyed the competition the sport provided. Above all, Buddy cherished his family and the time spent with those he loved. He also had a special bond with his beloved dog, Jack, who was a constant companion.

Survivors include his sister, Renee Burnfin Fraser (Craig) of Dublin, Georgia; sister, Janice Post (Michael) of Georgetown, Georgia; and brother, Stephen Burnfin (Sharon) of Albany, Georgia. He is also survived by his aunt, Earlene Garcia of Albany, Georgia; uncles, Tommy Burnfin and Ronnie Burnfin, both of Holden, Missouri; aunt, Charlotte Burnfin of Atlanta, Georgia; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home.
