Mary Simmons Padgett

Mary Simmons Padgett, of Albany, Georgia, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, at the age of 64, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held at Mathews Funeral Home on Friday, June 13, 2025 at 4:00 PM. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.

Born in Albany, GA on February 14, 1961 to the late Reed and Linda Simmons. Mary dedicated over forty years of her career to WALB, working diligently behind the scenes as a switch operator, contributing to the station's success and the community it served.

Beyond her professional life, Mary found joy in simpler pleasures. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and also  enjoyed going night fish, when she was able to. She was also a devoted sports fan, finding excitement in watching NASCAR, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Mary is survived by her loving daughter, Heather Padgett (Keith), of Columbus, Georgia; her fiancé, Joe High, of Albany, Georgia; her cherished grandchildren, Keitha Padgett and Lily Padgett; her stepdaughter, Amy High of Albany, Georgia; and numerous aunts and uncles who held a special place in her heart.

The family will receive friends following the memorial services.
