Mary E. Davis, 90, of Albany, GA passed away Friday, June 10, 2022 at Lee County Health and Rehabilitation.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sherwood Baptist Church. Rev. John Spencer will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis was born May 14, 1932 in Jonesville, VA.  She graduated from Dryden High School as Valedictorian and the went on to nursing school and became a LPN. In 1952 she married her late husband of 65 years, Howard Sidney Davis and they moved to Albany in 1959. 

She worked with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and with Dr. Sims and Dr. Fields in their private practice retiring in 1974.  Mrs. Davis loved cooking, planting flowers, crocheting, reading her bible, singing gospel songs at home and always loved helping others.

Mrs. Davis loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.  She was also preceded in death by her mother, Margarete Oakley, two brothers, Edward E. Edens and Cecil F. Edens and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to exspress our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Lee County Health and Rehab for the care love and support to mom and her family while she was there.  Affinis Hospice thank you for your love and support to mom the short time she was under your care.

Survivors include her children, Janice D. Ward and Debra James both of Albany, GA, brother, Rudy Edens, Clarksville, TN, grandchildren, Sean Western (Rhonda) Stephanie Shirah (Jason), Jason Ward (Marie), Patrick Ward, Alison Young (Kyle) and Lindsey James (Shefy) and great-grandchildren, Melina Western, Ellie Western, Kaden Young, Alexa Young and Alex Pelliccia.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour in the chapel of Sherwood Baptist Church.
