Marty Morris Leverett

Marty Morris Leverett, 50, of Leesburg, GA died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Leesburg. Rev. Bobby Harrell will officiate. Interment will follow in Leesburg Cemetery. Mickey Shaw, Donnie Worrell, Brett Hunter, Ricky Thompson, Bruce Bennett and Dan Harden will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Albany Fire Department and Jimmy James.

A native of Waycross, GA, Mr. Leverett grew up in Leesburg, GA and graduated from Lee County High School in 1980. He was a Battalion Chief with Albany Fire Department and was employed with Tri County Ag. Mr. Leverett was a member of First Baptist Church of Leesburg, Fraternal Order of Firefighters and the Georgia State Firefighter's Association. He loved to camp and could fix anything.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl C. Leverett of Leesburg, GA, a son, James M. Leverett of Albany, GA, three daughters, Eliza K. Leverett of Albany, GA, Kristin D. Reeves of Thomasville, GA and Kailee M. Reeves of Leesburg, GA, his mother, Helen Leverett and a brother and his wife, Tatum and Dana Leverett, all of Leesburg, GA, two sisters, Dana L. Graham and her husband, Tony of Leesburg, GA and Mandy Leverett of Tifton, GA. He was preceded in death by his father, Morris Alford Leverett, Sr.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Leesburg.
