Marion Fitch Maner, Jr., 89, of Albany, GA, died January 7, 2024 at Willson Hospice House. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at 11:00 am at Porterfield Methodist Church. Rev. Chuck Knight will officiate.
Mr. Maner was born in Savannah, GA on February 18, 1934 to Anne and Marion Maner, Sr. He grew up there and graduated from Savannah High School in 1952. He then attended and graduated from Southern Polytechnic College as an Electrical Engineer.
Mr. Maner was employed with The Honeywell Corporation in Atlanta, GA for many years before transferring to Albany, GA to help build the Firestone Tire and Rubber Plant. After twenty years, he retired and began his own business in 1975 and operated it until 2018. Mr. Maner was a member of Porterfield Methodist Church and The Key Sunday School Class. He was a member of The Albany-Dougherty County Kiwanis Club for over fifty years. Mr. Maner was a lifetime member of ASHRAE where he formerly served as the local Chapter President and National Committee Chairman. He was also a lifetime member of the Georgia Salzburger Society.
Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Avery Maner, of Albany, GA, his children, Denise (Tony) Hargrove of Swannanoa, NC and Chris (Sherri) Maner of Auburn, AL, his grandchildren, Christy McKeown of Swannanoa, NC, Josalin Gomez of Dunwoody, GA, Amanda Maner of Alpharetta, GA and Katy Maner of Auburn, AL, his sister-in-law, Joyce Avery Brown of Cumming, GA and his nieces, Davine Eldridge, Versie Brown and Debbie Provano.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in the Parlor at Porterfield Methodist Church.
Those desiring may make memorials in memory of Mr. Maner to the American Cancer Society or to Porterfield Methodist Church.
