Mariclay Lawrence Parks

Mariclay Lawrence Parks passed away peacefully at her home in Terrell County, GA on Saturday, January 6, 2024. Mrs. Parks was born on March 25, 1931 to Claude & Macey Lou Lawrence in Baker County, Georgia. She married the love of her life, Johnnie Jackson (“Jack”) Parks on November 18,1950. Daughter Pattie Sue (“Pattie”) was born September 3, 1951 and son Johnnie Lawrence (“Lawrence) was born June 28, 1956.

Mrs. Parks was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Dawson, Georgia where she was an active member throughout most of her life. She had a heart for visiting those who could not attend church for various reasons. Additionally, she led Sunday School classes at Calvary for many years and enjoyed being involved with the church and community. 

A devoted family woman, Mrs. Parks was very proud of her two children as well as her two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She and Mr. Parks leave a tremendous legacy of love for their family, friends and neighbors.

Mrs. Parks was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and son. She was also preceded by her brothers Charles Ray Lawrence and Roy Claude Lawrence. She is survived by her daughter Pattie Knight, grandchildren Kelly Knight Mellen (Mickey) and Charlie Knight (Liz), and great grandchildren, Macey Mellen, Mariana Mellen, Jackson Knight, Alex Knight and Alli Knight in addition to nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Calvary Baptist Church in Dawson, Georgia with the funeral and graveside service immediately following at 11:00AM.

 

The family would like to recognize and thank Gentiva Hospice as well as Ollie Kimbrough for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made in the name of Mariclay Parks to Calvary Baptist Church, 1064 W. Lee St., Dawson, GA, 39842.
