Marian C. Lingle, 85, of Woodstock, GA, formally of Albany. GA, passed away Monday, August 11, 2025 at her residence. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 10:30 am at Porterfield Methodist Church. Rev. Chuck Knight will officiate. The family will receive friends from 9:30 am until 10:30 am in the parlor at Porterfield Methodist Church.
On January 2, 1998, with her seven iron in hand, Marian Lingle made a hole-in-one 108 yards on the fourth hole at Stonebridge Golf & Country Club. When asked in later years she said this was one of her greatest accomplishments, and she kept a commemorative plaque close until her passing on August 11.
Marian was driven and endlessly curious, deftly picking up new endeavors that excited her. She loved the outdoors and grew up on a farm in Niotaze, Kansas. Born Marian Carol Patterson to parents Benita Gertrude Patterson and William Aidan Patterson, she had three siblings Margaret Bendimez, Ben Patterson, and Bill Patterson.
In the late sixties, after attending Kansas State University, she relocated to Albany, Georgia with her husband Charles (Chuck) Lingle and two children. She loved her community and was a dedicated steward, always helping wherever she felt she could lend a hand. Marian was an invested member of the Junior Service League, Leadership Albany, Albany Board of Realtors, and the YMCA. On her daily morning walks she would pick up trash and mark streetlights that were out.
As a RE/MAX agent, she also made her mark in the real estate community. Recognized as a Realtor of the Year she helped many move to, from, and within Albany. She established life long friendships from these transactions. Marian was the Albany Board of Realtors President in 1989. She was the Education Chairman in 1983 and the RPAC (Realtor Political Action Committee) Chairman in 1984 and 1985. She was awarded Realtor of the Year in 1983 and 2004. She was a Phoenix Award Winner with the Board of Realtors (30 consecutive Presidential Achievement Awards and Received the distinguished Professionalism Award in 1990.
Marian loved to knit and would tackle elaborate patterns (such as Christmas stockings for each member of the family) as well as scarves and hats for her church, Porterfield Methodist. She enjoyed learning new ways of making things, including how to mill her own flour to make bread from scratch. Her pies were legendary as was her peanut brittle, and she always had a casserole ready in the freezer for a friend or neighbor in need. In the summer you’d find her tending to her garden and nurturing her crops while visiting with her neighbors over the fence.
To say she lived well is a vast understatement. She deeply appreciated the satisfaction of a day’s hard work as much as she did catching up on the phone with friends, playing a hand of cards with family or watching the sun set.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Charles E. Lingle, Jr. "Chuck".
She is survived by her two daughters: Leslie Bacon (Bryan) and Jo Marchildon (Wayne), four grandchildren: Brooke Williams, Cam Williams (Caroline), Caroline Marchildon, and Jordan Stockton (Ryan), as well as three great grandchildren, Elle and Rory Stockton, and Lucy Williams.
In lieu of flowers the family requested donations be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association at lbda.org
