Loretta Harris Massey, 87, of Morgan, GA, passed away May 8, 2026 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at 2:00 pm at the Morgan Baptist Church. Rev. Josh Ducan will officiate. Interment will follow in The George Cemetery in New Hope on New Hope Church Road.
Loretta was born at home in Damascus, GA on January 21, 1939 to the late Harvey and Doris Harris. She grew up in Early County, GA and graduated from Blakely Union High School in 1957 and attended nursing school at Piedmont Hospital. Loretta met the love of her life, Ron, at Café 27 in August of 1957 and they married the day after Thanksgiving the same year.
Loretta moved to Albany, GA where her husband was stationed with the Air Force and resided there until they moved to Morgan, GA in 1988. She and her husband opened Critter Town in 1968 on Slappey Blvd., then Pets and Pals in The Midtown Mall and The Albany Mall until their retirement in 1993. After their retirement, they moved to Morgan, GA and started ROMLO Greenhouses until 2010. Loretta was a devoted member of Morgan Baptist Church and enjoyed her grandchildren, great grands, her dear family and playing weekly canasta with her friends.
Survivors include her husband of sixty eight years, Ron Massey of Morgan, GA, her children, Kelli Williams (Roy) of Atlanta, GA, Anjie Webb of Tallahassee, FL, Clifton Massey of Deltaville, VA and Brian Massey of Panama City, FL, her sisters, Karen Hill (Wayne) of Cordele, GA and India Flood of Morgan, GA, her grandchildren, Ivy Kroncke (Fritz) of Atlanta, GA, Parker Douglas (Rob) of Albany, GA, Devin Killmeier (Eddie and Harris Webb (Kelsie) all of Watkinsville, GA and eight great-grandchildren, Greta, Flora, Rett, Louis, Ike, Clifton, Harvey and Cecilia.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm before the service at Morgan Baptist Church.
