Mrs. Linda Rouse Rice, 78, of Leesburg, Georgia, formerly of Grifton, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Willson Hospice House. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at her daughter’s residence, 121 Buck Run Drive East, Leesburg, Georgia 31763. A memorial service will be held at a later date in North Carolina.
Linda was born in Kinston, North Carolina, on October 18, 1947, to the late Bishop Durwood and Nina Johnson Rouse. She was a graduate of Atlantic Christian College, where she earned her degree in Cosmetology. Linda began her career as a social service agent before joining the Pitt County School System, where she worked in data management until her retirement.
In 2020, Linda made her home in Lee County, Georgia. Linda was an avid golfer and especially enjoyed taking golf trips with her dear friends. Those trips created countless memories and were a special part of her life. More than anything, however, Linda treasured her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and took great joy in watching her family grow. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a particularly special place in her heart.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold Gene Rice, her brother, Ronald Rouse; her son-in-law, Ronald Mize, Jr.; and her beloved dog, Bailee.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Rice Mize of Leesburg, Georgia, and Pam Rice Foss and her husband, Ashley, of Grifton, North Carolina; her grandchildren, Lauren Mize Bozeman and her husband, Derek, Kaylin Elizabeth Foss, Dylan Michael Foss, Hunter Coleman Mize and his wife, Datelyn, and Hannah Mize Stoyle and her husband, Fred; her great-grandchildren, Kennedy Bozeman, Everleigh Critzer, Mason Critzer, Camryn Bozeman, Mckenna Stoyle, Morgan Stoyle, and Gaberial Stoyle; her siblings, Kenneth Rouse and his wife, Brenda, and Sherrilyn Johnson and her husband, Robert “Pete”; her sister-in-law, Bett Rouse; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind four very special great-grandpups.
