Lera Faye Slocumb, 90, of Smithville, GA, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025 at her home. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 11:00 am at Smithville Methodist Church. Rev. Henry Young will officiate. A private interment will follow in The Smithville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Slocumb was born on September 22, 1935 in Oak Park, GA to Johnnie and Dorthy Hewett. She was raised in Baxley, GA and moved to The Albany, GA in 1953 and graduating from Appling County High School. Mrs. Slocumb moved to Lee County, GA in 1964 and was employed as a Bookkeeper with J.C. Jones Company for forty three years.
She was a member of Smithville Methodist Church and was a life time member of The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary. Mrs. Slocumb loved to work in her yard. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Ray Mullis, Prater Miller and Raymond Slocumb, her son, Dale Mullis, a granddaughter, LaDonna Mullis and a grandson, Christopher Mullis.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Janet (Charlie) Martin of Smithville, GA, her sisters, Bonnie Crumpton of Hazelhurst, GA and Glendia Pulliam of Winterville, GA, her great-grandchildren, Zodie Brown of Albany, GA, Nikki Mullis of Westminster, CO, Dylan Mullis, Brooklyn Rose, Charles “Trey” Mullis, III, Brannon Martin and Shannon Martin all of Smithville, GA.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Smithville Baptist Church.
