Lee Jackson Pennington

Lee J. Pennington, 68, of Lee County, GA, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be held Friday, July 31, 2026 at 11:00 am at Westover Community Church. Pastor Barry Butters will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Lee was born in Albany, GA on August 4, 1957 to the late Gordon and Collie Pennington. He grew up in Albany, GA, graduated from Albany High School in 1975 and joined the United States Coast Guard. Lee was active in the construction and painting business all of his adult life, and was also a accomplished artist. He was a great fisherman, both salt and freshwater and could catch fish when no one else could and was referred to as the “Fish Whisperer”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Pennington. Survivors include his son, Chris (Kim) Pennington and his mother, Jackie Powell of Lee County, GA, his siblings, Billy (Connie) Gaskins of Lee County GA, Gordon Pennington of Franklin, TN and Bruce Pennington of Huntsville, AL, four grandchildren, Haley Pennington of Panama City Beach, FL, Madison Pennington of Crawfordville, FL, Kylie Brierly and Cannon Pennington both of Lee County, GA and a great-granddaughter, Trinity Sadler of Panama City Beach, FL.
